As this is our first day cycling in the area and we have some tough days coming up this week, we will provide a guided ride today locally into the Tarentaise valley. We provide minibus support, food and drink during the rides plus our bike guide will ride with you and plan the day. We will keep it relatively short but if you feel at the end of the day that you want to do it a bit more, you can ride from Bourg st Maurice back up to the chalet in Sainte Foy for an additional 15km steady climb.
Sainte Foy>>Vulmix>>Versant Soleil>>Notre dame de Pré>>Bourg St Maurice (ride up to Sainte Foy for those who can)
We will transfer you over to Albertville and we will ride stage 11 of the 2018 Tour de France from Albertville to La Rosière over the Cormet de Roselend which will feature again in the 2019 Tour de France later in the week. This is a is 108km ride. Transport back to Sainte Foy after La Rosiere.
Today the Tour de France comes closer to us as the finish of today’s stage is in Valloire after scaling the Col du Galibier from Embrun. We offer a fully supported ride today to Valloire to watch the finish. In the morning we take you to Moutiers from where we have a short warm up ride before we tackle the Col de La Madeleine which brings us into the Maurienne Valley. We then ride the fairly flat valley road to the top of the valley and we will tackle the Col du Galibier which takes us right up to Valloire. The riders of the 2019 Tour de France will finish in Valloire but from the other side today.
After the finish, we will provide transport back to Sainte Foy where we will enjoy the chalet’s facilities and evening meal this evening.
The next Alpine stage will start from the town of Saint Jean de Maurienne in the Maurienne valley and finish in Tignes, a popular French ski resort at the foot of the Col de L’Iseran just a few kilometres away from Sainte Foy. The riders of the Tour de France will climb the Col d’Iseran from the valley which comes into Val d’Isere before the finish in Tignes.
Cyclists can join us on our guided ride to Tignes today. We have a great treat in store for you as we have access to the course for a ‘cross the finish line experience’. We are in a great place in Sainte Foy to ride to Tignes.
We have a treat in store for you today. The cyclists can join us for our ‘cross the finish line’ VIP experience. We will ride on the very roads that the peloton will ride on just hours later. After you have crossed the official finish line in Tignes, we will be joined by the non-cyclists and we will all have our photos taken on the winners podium and wait for the riders to arrive in Tignes.
For both riders and spectators we offer the ‘Relais Etape’ experience. Enjoy a sit down lunch, a comfortable setting with a large screen to watch today’s deciding stage. The ‘Relais Etape’ is an area on the course of a Tour de France stage which takes the form of a small village in a prime position along the route, just a few kilometres from the finish line. We will accommodate a ride to this area for those who are cycling and spectators will be taken directly to the ‘Relais Etape’ to enjoy the day.
As the riders of the 2019 Tour de France get ready for the final processional stage into Paris on the Champs Elysees, it is time for us to go home. We will run 2 airport transfers to Geneva airport, arriving in Geneva at 09.00 and 14.00. The journey takes about 2.5hrs so please ensure that your flight times are in line with this.
